Happy Thanksgiving from the Varner family! Angela started her Xalkori treatment on 11/24 and the results have been extremely promising thus far. Ange’s energy levels are increasing daily, she has not needed oxygen in several days, she is taking long walks around the neighborhood and started some light yoga today, and she has gotten involved in the joy of changing Mason’s diapers — All of this with under a week of treatment complete! To see her moving around and feeling well is such a blessing and incredibly uplifting for our family. Ange will wrap up her radiation treatments this week (12/4) and then will only be taking Xalkori for the time being. We are scheduled for blood analysis on 12/17 to assess how her body is handling the treatment. Xalkori can cause spikes in liver values, so doctors want to monitor that throughout the treatment. Also, Ange will have new scans performed in early January to assess how the cancer is responding to the treatment. We are optimistic for good news from these appointments considering the quick improvements we have seen since beginning the treatment. The good news is there are other alternatives if things are not progressing as well as we would like. I have included a few pictures from our Thanksgiving. We had an amazing day enjoying great food and spending time with our family. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and I look forward to sharing more good news in the near future. Love you all!
