Happy birthday Dean Pitchford! He is the book writer and lyricist for both the film (1984 and 2011 versions) and the stage adaptation of FOOTLOOSE and also wrote the lyrics for the stage production of CARRIE the musical. Did you know the idea for FOOTLOOSE came to Mr. Pitchford when he read a newspaper article from Elmore City, Oklahoma that focused on the students of the high school trying to lift a dance ban in their community that had been in place for 88 years? That year, the graduating class of 1980 made history by getting permission to dance at the prom!
