She received her recent award in this category for the songs of film Lekin.... The jury presented her this award for singing with outstanding expressions with the rarest and purest of styles.[5] 1972 - National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for songs of the film Parichay[6] 1974 - National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for songs of the film Kora Kagaz[7] 1990 - National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for songs of the film Lekin...[5] Filmfare AwardsEdit The Filmfare Awards for playback singing first started in 1958. In 1956, the song Rasik Balma from the film Chori Chori by Shankar Jaikishan won the Best Song Filmfare Award. Lata refused to sing it live in protest of absence of a Playback Singer category. The category was finally introduced in 1958. Though, separate awards for male & female singers were introduced later on. There are numerous songs sung by Lata which would have been considered for considering her under best playback singer. These are Ye zindagi usi ki hai, hai isi mein pyar ki aabroo, aapki nazaron ne samajha, zara si aahat hoti hai, zindagi zulm sahi, dil todane wale tujhe dil dhoondh raha hai, kuchh dil ne kaha, aa bhi ja rasiya, khuda-e-bartar teri zameen par, san sanan sanan, ja re O pawan, badalon, baraso nayan ki or se, baharon, mera jeevan bhi sawaron, naina barase, rimjhim rimjhim, O bekarar dil, ho chuka hai, man re tu hi bata kya gaoon, ehsan tera hoga mujh par, bedardi balama tujh ko mera man yaad karata hai, and so many other songs. I wonder why these songs are not considered for best playback singers award. Lata Mangeshkar monopolized the best female playback singer award from 1958 to 1966. In 1969, Lata made the unusual gesture of giving up Filmfare awards in order to promote fresh talent. 1958 - Aaja Re Pardesi from Madhumati 1962 - Kahi Deep Jale Kahi Dil from Bees Saal Baad 1965 - Tumhi Mere Mandir Tumhi Meri Pooja from Khandan 1969 - Aap Mujhe Achhe Lagne Lage from Jeene Ki Raah 1993 - Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award 1994 - Filmfare Special Award for Didi Tera Devar Deewana from Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!
