Happy birthday to our one-of-a-kind centre! The Welsh Centre for Burns and Plastic Surgery is celebrating 20 years at Morriston Hospital. The service was originally based at St Lawrence Hospital, Chepstow, until 4th September 1994. To celebrate the Swansea centre’s double decade, a celebration ball will take place on Saturday (1st November) at the city’s Brangwyn Hall. Consultant burns and plastic surgeon Bill Dickson is one of the members of staff who made the move from Chepstow. He said: “The transfer of the centre to Morriston hospital has enabled us to develop and increase our services, allowing us to continue providing high quality care to our patients. “Being in a general hospital means we can work in multidisciplinary teams, which significantly benefits patients with complex needs.” To find out how the centre has developed over the years, take a look at wales.nhs.uk/sitesplus/863/news/34626.
