Happy freezing cold Monday, folks! Today on #MTHM, we take a look back at The Life and their 1997 Tony Award performance of My Body. The show, written by Cy Coleman (Sweet Charity), David Newman and Ira Gasman, was an original musical about the gritty underbelly of Times Square in the 1980s. The show started off-Bway in 1990 and took 7 years to make it to the Barrymore Theatre, where it ran for just over a year, earning 12 Tony nominations and winning 2 of them: Lillias White for Best Supporting Actress and Chuck Cooper for Best Supporting Actor (Best Musical went to Titanic that year). White and Cooper were part of the original 1990 cast, which goes to show how much loyalty to a project you really believe in can pay off. Check out the awesome diversity in casting and how the choreographer (Joey McKneely) used all those different types to create an effervescent burst of energy thats a pure joy to watch!
