Happy holiday weekend to those in the U.S. This three-week, free - TopicsExpress

Happy holiday weekend to those in the U.S. This three-week, free online program ended today. I faithfully followed every day, never once not making a serious effort, dozing off or fidgeting. Within the first week, a stubborn 15-year shoulder injury cleared up -- almost miraculously (all my yoga teachers proudly take partial credit ;-) ). I used the practice every day to hold seated and reclining postures to stretch and open various body parts while staying still. My heart opened from listening to some of the messages, and I feel more calm and centered. I am now definitely a convert to maintaining a short daily meditation practice (10 min is about perfect, IMHO) for focus and discipline. It did affect appetite, BTW. This four-day weekend, I am almost vegetarian (some milk and butter). When you need to replenish the body, stillness and centering and/or conscious deep breathing may be what you really need, rather than some treat food or emotional eating. Of course, if you are meditating, you arent eating. The mind-body discipline may be a good thing to help resist compulsive urges and encourage positive change. My BP has dropped to well into the normal range. When I returned to serious working out three years ago, I was prehypertensive, borderline hypertense. Now its way down to 106/75 without meds. What can I tell you? At least for (perhaps formerly) high-strung me, this stuff works. It has been calming, healing and eye-opening. Plus my kitties love it when Im on the yoga mat and come over to roll around for cuddles and assist.
