Happy is the man that finds wisdom, and the man that gets - TopicsExpress

Happy is the man that finds wisdom, and the man that gets understanding. (Proverbs 3:13) All too many people do not understand there were no punctuations in the Hebrew and Greek of Scripture. For that matter they seem to be unaware that there were no sentence, paragraphs, chapters or verses! No the Old Testament was scrolls of flowing text and the New Testament was letters of flowing text. So the result of this lack of knowledge people find it totally acceptable to takes so called verses absolutely out of context to use for their purpose not Gods. Why do I say, that because God does NOT speak in partial thoughts. So when man (woman) takes a verse out of context they display a lack of wisdom and understanding of God’s character and nature. Please note that when God says “Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.” (Proverbs 4:5) That God placed wisdom and understanding in order ahead of His word and IMHOP that seems to indicate that we must have that in the Spirit to use His word intelligently in the Spirit. Then we can live by every word (Deuteronomy 8:3, Matthew 4:4 and Mark 4:4) But beyond that God says, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” (Proverbs 4:7) What is that, wisdom is the principle thing. Today we see so many self-appointed (elevated) preachers of the word, especially on FB. That is why Paul said to Timothy “Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other mens sins: keep thyself pure.” (1Timothy 5:22) The implication is that it takes time to prepare. In fact, Paul himself went to Arabia for three years where the Holy Spirit brought light to the Scriptures Paul already knew by heart, then he came back to Jerusalem and spent two weeks with Peter making certain he had heard the Holy Spirit right and in order. And then he became God’s firebrand. Due to Jesus teaching his disciples for 3-3 ½ years and Paul’s three years Holy Spirit schooling plus “finishing school” with Peter, many seminaries and Bible Schools have three year systems. But back to the point, we all need to be good students not just of verses but context and historical settings. And we must always apply good hermeneutic practices in our studies and teaching of which context and historical setting are two major principles. Without employing these we are apt to be poor stewards of and come across ignorant of God’s word. Baruch HaShem Adonai
