Happy new year everybody (yesterday doesnt count as i didnt leave the club until 2pm New years day), thanks very much everyone for coming to our last stand, practically everyone that i have ever met was there & only a handful that wernt able to make it so it was all i could have asked for, sorry i didnt get much of a chance to chat with anyone, i think that on average i got to say 2 sentences per person. We pretty much sold out of every item of stock & the place was absolutely destroyed so hats off party people. It has been a very very strange year for me, the beginning of which saw me trying to get to the root of my sons decreasing health. Following this was the sudden shock discovery of Bills brain tumor & the month we spent in hospital & the overwhelming support from all in Hereford. The result was the best news we could have hoped for & after adjusting back to normal life we had the awesome surprise of managing to win the UKs best burger with The Beefy Boys qualifying us to enter the world food championships in Las Vegas. Straight after this myself & 5 other middle aged men spent stag week in Ibiza & hit it so hard i almost had a nervous breakdown / mid life crisis. To top that off, i trapped a nerve in my back & have been in considerable agony since then, taking huge amounts of pain killers. Next, after a lot of thought , due to lacklustre attendance & poor public opinion myself & my hetro life partner Anthony Murphy made the heart breaking decision to draw a line under the jaily & close it down on new years eve & began preparing for all that. At the same time, after the pressure or fundraising like crazy the Beefy boys managed to make it to Vegas & bizarrely come 2nd place to in the burger category of world food championships. In conclusion, after a very very shaky start its been a very good & lucky year, albeit bitter sweet with the closure of something that has taken me 16 years to build. This coming year i am not going to able to see the majority of you lovable weirdos i have been drinking with for almost a decade as much as id like but after a month or two off Im sure we will be putting events on again, not to make money (as theyre none in what we do apparently!) but so that you jaily regular odd bods( myself included) do not fit in anywhere else & we can use it as an excuse to regularly see each other, so watch this space. Special thanks to everyone who has helped out this year & supported myself & my family or either of our businesss, whether you donated when we were in hospital with Bill, bought a beefy boy burger or came to see an event at The Jailhouse . Most of all thanks to my amazing & beautiful wife Kate Symonds for supporting me through all of this, being a rock in hospital, being totally accepting with the fact that i went out multiple times a week to the club & frequently came home worse for wear at the crack of dawn, bearing with me when the pain in my back made me very irritable & short tempered & for her involvement with organizing the beefy boys from 4 dickheads flipping burger to crack team of consumate pop up professionals. My new years resolution, with the death of the jaily & regaining of my weekends, is to above all spend more time with her & my family (another resolution is to try & stop trolling you lovely folk on facebook but that is a completely different story). Anyway, once again, happy new year mofos, see you all soon hopefully x
