Happy new year everyone. Its been five months since I launched the Our Dumfries and Galloway Facebook page and its been an amazing and interesting opener - lots of hard but rewarding work. When I first debuted the page back in August, a few people messaged me to question the need for it pointing out there are larger pages with more Likes out there. One person this week even got in touch quite aggrieved that I had the audacity to continue running such a page. Takes all sorts I suppose. My reason for launching it was to have a pure, 100 per cent promotion page for the region. I had the option at the very beginning to put on news, but with news comes the often uglier side of everyday life and we all get enough of that fired at us from all directions. So I wanted to create a haven where you can go and you will know that only the very best of Our Dumfries and Galloway will be in front of your eyes. This will continue to be the case in 2015. I know that posting up the more gossipy side of life would see my pages Likes rocket up but I also know that those following my page (Happy new year to the current 1950) do so because they also want to hear and share all the great things about our region and discover new events to go to and local businesses to support. So rest assured I will continue with that mantra in 2015 and I hope you will discover one or two things that make it all worthwhile. The overwhelming positive feedback you have given me in those five months has brought a smile to my face many, many times. Heres to another great 12 months.
