Happy new year to all the reds out there and I hope that you all - TopicsExpress

Happy new year to all the reds out there and I hope that you all have a very happy & healthy new year. LR I have been away for a few days visiting friends for the new year and have stayed away from the internet and I also had my phone switched off. I come back to find we have drawn at home to Leicester City 2-2 after being 2-0 up, and our Legend captain Stevie G is leaving. I have been searching across the net to see what the general opinion is on Stevie leaving and of course there are so many messages from players and ex players & managers and fans thanking him and wishing him well on his future where ever that may be. Well sorry guys, I am gonna go against the grain, of course Stevie is gonna go down as one of our greatest ever players and its clear that accolade can only go to Stevie or Kenny. But for me what is becoming clear now is that the biggest signing we can make has a club since Luis Suarez was signed, is a new winning manager. A winning manager who can see that Stevie G has still got so much more to offer and even at the age of 34. He is still our leading goal scorer this season and if we look at what 36 year old Frank Lampard has done at Man City, they have an extra 7 points with Lampards contribution. You just cannot buy experience and at Liverpool we have lost players like Reina, Agger, Carragher, Aurelio, Maxi, Bellamy and Suarez and soon Stevie for young inexperienced players that just cannot cut it. Mostly. With Stevie G in the team this season we have an extra 2 points and we would have no Europa League football because we would of finished bottom of our CL group stage. Take Stevie G out of our team and we are actually starting to look a lot like a mid table team who have a few good players that we be sold off at the end of the season because the bigger clubs are going to come in for them. Under Rodgers he has annihilated the wage bill by selling our most experienced and best players, He has sold a world class Suarez, Carragher retired and now Stevie G is going, Results are poor from a poor manager and before we know it, we will have a team that may need a major overhaul when the next manager comes in like never before. Remember when Hodgson came in he still had a major core of players that were from Rafas time, It was just his poor management skills and so did King Kenny who actually improved Liverpool by getting to two cup finals winning one. But now we will not be able to say that about the next manager because by the time Rodgers has finished there will be no Lucas and maybe even Skrtel may of been moved on to reduce the wage bill yet again. The best new year we can hope for is the return of Rafa to put Liverpool back to winning ways and to keep Gerrard at his beloved Liverpool to see out his career here just like Carragher did.
