Happy to be Indian … wish each n every Indian a very happy 68th Independence Day… Miss those days of Indian Air Force…… 15th Aug ki Parade… Mahine pehle ki taiyari…. Voh junjlahat… Are yaar yeh after noon practice.. phir se dress pehno… voh white belt, anklet aur anklet boot… brasso nahi kiya toh frog jump… milko nahi kiya toh frog jump… ji karta tha ki mauka mile to us GTI ko jaan se maar doon….. koi matlab hai… 20 rounds riffle over the head… bhari dhoop mein and sahib phir bhi khus na hue to … riffle over the head and frog jump.. haad hai yaar… 14th Aug ki dopahar , lunch ke baad – sare lage hai, jute chamkane…. Naye naye tarike.. kaise belt jyada shine ho, kaise anklet chamke… uniform mein ek bhi silbat na ho….. haircut khatarnak… sirf kuch baal hi bache rahe… baki safachat. 15th Aug ki subah ….. subah paanch baje se taiyari… bhag kar breakfast kiya ya agar late ho gaye to…. Kisi ko bola.. yaar aate baqt thore chai apne mug mein lete aana .. char puri bhi maang lana mess member se…. But har banda puri koshis mein ki aaj ki parade puri josh ke saath karna hai.. koi chuk na ho… Bhag kar gaya armory… riffle draw kara… sling lagaya aur flight formed… sidhe parade ground.. Last moment check ke liye jeb mein do rumal… ek pasina saaf toh dusra.. for last moment touch up for the boot, brass parts of the belt and cap… 5 ft 11 inch ki height .. bar kar 6 ft 2 inch ho gayi… banda taiyar… ID parade ke liye… Yaad hai marker banta tha… Number 4 Squadron , Agli flight hilo mat… chik..chik..chik chik ( that was the sound to turn & move to next flank together) No. 5 Sqn, dusri flight . pichli line shuffle forward… Sqn Hilo Mat…. Awaz itni buland ho ki your voice should reach the last man of 5th Squadron from the 1st Sqn… SWO ki awaj…. Station Parade Par….. all the 5 sqn, 3 flights ready for the ID parade… Har dil mein pura josh .. aaj ki parade mein jaan laga denge…. Ek junoon hota tha….that we are the soldiers of Independent India and saluting our mother land with all respect today.. The 15th Aug.. Parade ke baad .. Parade Bisram.. ab bari hoti thi…. AOC ki speech….. Sidhe khare raho.. almost ek ghanta.. riffle haat mein .. stand at ease but that was the most deadly part … you can only move your eyes but body is still…. AOC ( Air Officer Commanding) ke speech ke dauran… ( Dhooom) ek awaj … Ek bande ko chakkar aa gaya aur gira.. lagta hai breakfast nahi kiya tha.. late ho gaya hoga .. could not stand.. And then finally the call…. Parade Savdhan… General Salute … Salami sasth….. and the parade disperse. Jaan mein jaan aayi.. every thing was fine… ab bhago .. riffle jama karo aur run to the billet… kyounki .. now its time for the long awaited .. BARA KHANA.. Lots of special dishes are made , there are guest for other Squardons and chance to meet AOC on one to one… have brief chat.. It was fun…. Lunch is served .. line mein khare ho gaye … mess member se request kiya .. yaar , chiken ka leg piece dena .. Barfi.. ek aur de de yaar… Yaad aate hai who din.. ab bhi lagta hai .. kuch hi din pehli ki toh baat hai .. but its almost 27 years… The Best part is I joined Airforce on 8th Oct 1987 as Eqpt. Accts and that is again on AIRFORCE Day.. there is Bara Khana on this day as well and I used to say my friends… Chalo.. kya yaad rakhoge.. mere work anniversary par tum logon ke liye Bara Khana de raha hun…. Hanged my Boots & Belt on Mar 2006 , took voluntary retirement.. that time.. for the good but today I sincerely think that I could have continued… Woh maja hi kuch aur tha… The value of uniform is millions time higher than anything in this world.. The Proud of being a Soldier is always immense. I am proud that my grand father, my father and me have served the nation and i hope my son continues the trend.. and join Airforce. Jai Hind .. Jai Bharat.. Happy Independence day to all …
