Happy to say that, at our Village Board Meeting last night, the Board of Trustees voted NOT to raise taxes for the homeowners/property owners of Channahon. When levy options were presented, I pointed out that maintaining the status quo in dollar amount would mean raising the levy rate because of declining assessed valuations. I asked that we consider the option of maintaining the levy rate which means less revenue dollars for the Village, but also less taxes for our residents. Im pleased to say that this Board is mindful of the economic realities of our community and opted to keep the rate the same and tighten the budget as residents have had to do in their own homes. We are homeowners, as well, and the way we vote impacts us, too. Proud to call Channahon home.
