Hard facts : Statistically 3 or 4 babies or young children were shaken today . This can result in mild injuries, serious lifelong injuries like Carter or even death . I think this is totally unacceptable and I know you do too . That is why I feel awareness is so important. Babies are innocent and they cry because that is what babies do !! It is important to be careful who watches your children. Ask if they know about SBS and the serious consequences it has . Make sure they know its ok to put the baby down, walk away, take a break or better yet make a phone call for help . Babies dont die from crying, but shaking a baby can cause serious injury or death . Teach young girls not to leave their babies with a new boyfriend. Make sure they know how he interacts and his coping skills before leaving him to babysit their baby . ( I know this is not the only offenders - boyfriends - but it does happen a lot . ) When preventative measures are taken and you educate yourself and others around you; your baby will have the best chance possible to NEVER be shaken .
