Hard to believe that Clay Aiken was ever in the closet. BTW, why was he in the closet? Did he have to wait until he amassed his millions before it was safe to come out? I see nothing brave or heroic when people come out like that. Its people like Michael Sam, who out themselves before fame, damn the consequences. Not people like Clay, who make it then say, oh it was so liberating to finally come out! and, be brave, see, I did it. so can you and theyre giving this advice to closeted gays living in conservative communities where a violent reaction is the most likely outcome of an outing. And then theres Neil Patrick Harris who was outed involuntarily, voiced dissatisfaction with being outed, and only after people said it was great did he decide to be the come out of the closet hero.
