Hard-work The Shortest Route To Success. By Emmanuel - TopicsExpress

Hard-work The Shortest Route To Success. By Emmanuel Olatunji. Is there any shortest route to success? Yes! Hard work is the shortest route to success. Just like the popular quote by Henry Longfellow; The height great men reached and kept/ were not attend by sudden flight/ but they, while their companions slept/ were toiling upward in the night. You can never achieve anything great without hard work. Even during the period of the children of Israel, when God promised them the land of Canaan, a land which they never plant nor build in, yet in other for that land to be theirs they still have to work hard to posses it. Nothing good comes easy in this life just as most of us know. Some couple of days ago, I read an interview of Twenty one-year-old Adepoju Peace, one of the female first class graduates from the Civil Engineering Department of Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State, in the 2013/2014 academic session having finished with a 4.54 CGPA. In the interview, she told TUNDE AJAJA, the person who interviewed her that, her success was a product of Gods grace and hard work. According to Thomas Edison, the man who invented the electric light bulb, The three great essentials to achieve anything worth while are first, hard work, second, stick-to-it-tiveness, third commonsense. You see, Thomas Edison never attended any university, he was self educated, nevertheless, he was a prolific inventor. He officially schooled for three months after which his mother taught him at home during his childhood days. What am I trying to convey here? Thomas Edison understood the importance of hard work; he understood how vital it is to be hard working to achieve anything credible. Little wonder, hard work came first in his quote above! If you wish to become great, then you must be ready to do great things. Even, to become a successful Christian or anything you wish to become, you cannot undermine the importance of hard work. Its the catalyst that catapult you to great height. See one of the famous quote of Thomas Edison; Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety nine percent perspiration. Please, confirm the meaning of the word Perspiration in your lexicon(dictionary), in my perception, its even far greater than hard work, to me, it is, the climax or acme of hard work. This is what the wise man has to say on this subject matter; The hand of the diligent shall bear rule but the slothful shall be under tribute. To bring this note to conclusion, I did like to quote the words of Martin Luther King Jr, a man whose work and writings has great impact in my life. His words are enshrined in my heart. In his book A knock At Midnight; a collection of his sermons, he notes; If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelando Painted, or Beethoven played music or shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep street, so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well. God bless you for reading. Have a pleasant weekend!
