Harold John Salmon Harreljon III, age 41, passed away in a trucking accident in Iowaon May 24, 2014. (Pottawattamie County) -- Two vehicle fatality accident occurred on Saturday afternoon east of Council Bluffs. The accident happened around 4:30 pm at the intersection of I-80 and I-680. Two vehicles were both traveling westbound on I-80, a semi driven by 41-year-old Harold Salmon of Alpharetta, Ga was in the left lane and the vehicle driven by 24-year-old Cody Schandelmier of Council Bluffs was in the right lane. The Schandelmier vehicle hit the front of the Salmon vehicle and both left the roadway on the south side of the interstate. Both went over the embankment and landed on the I-680 eastbound, below the I-80 bridge. The Schandelmier vehicle came to rest on I-680, the semi came to rest in the south ditch of I-680 eastbound and caught on fire. Salmon was pronounced dead at the scene and taken to the State Medical Examiners office. Schandelmier was taken by Neola Rescue to Jenny Edmundson Hospital and a passenger in his vehicle, 27-year-old Lisa Rieper of Council bluffs, was taken to Jenny Ed Hospital by Minden Rescue
