Harris impressed with natural talent of Nepali batsmen Australian batting coach Chris Harris, who landed in Kathmandu on October 2, said he was impressed by the natural talent in Nepali batsmen. Harris was talking to us while taking a break from his first full-fledged batting training session with the national camp preparing for the ICC World Twenty20 and ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers. “Nepali batsmen have natural talent and its very high as well. I think Nepal will do very well in the World Cup Qualifiers,” said Harris. Harris watched the recently concluded National Twenty20 final between Nepal APF Club and Tribhuvan Army Club. Harris, hired by the Cricket Association of Nepal for 10 days to provide batting tips to national team spent several hours with the cricketers on Sunday providing them with different techniques on batting. The batting coach from Victoria Cricket Club said his focus will be to instill “various techniques and generating power while batting.” Harris’ arrival to Nepal comes under the High Performance Programme (HPP) prepared by the cricket governing body in the country for the Qualifiers. He is assisting coach Pubudu Dassanayake as an specialist coach. As an spectator, the Victoria Cricket Club batting coach, Harris, expected Nepal to do very well in the Qualifiers. “As an spectator, I expect a good running between the wickets from them and of course a big power hitting. This is a good side that has no doubt shown a lot of promise in the Qualifiers. The top four batsmen need to fire,” said Harris. - cricketingnepal
