Harrison did good through most of his occupational therapy today - TopicsExpress

Harrison did good through most of his occupational therapy today but towards the end he got the giggles. The bad giggles as we call them. He used to do this a lot but today was the first time in a while. He starts laughing and cant stop. He laughs hysterically, wont cooperate, and sometimes (like today) he will hit us or throw things. Nice responses to it often make him laugh harder until he cant catch his breath. Those who arent used to it will smile or laugh with him because its a cute, infectious laugh. However, we get concerned and try to talk very sternly to him sometimes to the point that he will switch to crying (its hard to find the right balance but we cant have him hitting everyone). If we can, we will drop what we are doing and leave the house or wherever we are to distract him and this usually works. But we have to be careful not to get him excited again. Feels bad when he seems so happy but he almost cant function when he has the bad giggles (which have lasted for hours and sometimes off and on for days). He apparently was fine the rest of the day though so hoping we wont see it for another long while.
