Harry’s picks & BC 2014 report I just saw the final groups of horses and the races they will be entered into this coming Breeders Cup weekend. Some the races have changed quite a bit with last second decisions to run or withdraw- & a number of runners I’ve been keen on have flown the coop so to speak- In the past week I’ve looked at a number of these events and expressed opinions regarding the ancestry of many of them- in the final analysis looking at the past performances should decide which horse has the most plus factors going for it and the “rambler and gambler” need apply this information to arrive at a sort of rational conclusion therein cashing a few tickets- The introduction of exotic wagering into the tradition bound Sport of Kings & Queen has decidedly turned the whole aspect of backing your horse into a vast labyrinth of strange “combos” and “wheels” in fact yesterday I played a pick Ten!!! At Gulfstream Park west- why not? I got carried away with that wagering scheme that I just paid scant attention to my choices at Zia Park- so while I was frittering away my time looking for a ridiculous pick 10 my Zia Park picks were running wild! That and the results at Finger Lakes just about put the writer into his coffee can to be tossed by a friend into the desert wastes of the windy Mojave- The day was so heartbreaking and I have been thru lots of those if nothing else in my life – that I might just spend the rest of dough (what is left of it) and play a few Breeders Cup races and call it a “career” The notion that “all horse players die broke” certainly has its poster boy in yours truly! Many years ago I saved money for quite a while and was determined to use my “knowledge” and make a great day happen at Hollywood Park- I was focus on one horse I think Laz Barrera had Lemhi Gold in some kind of allowance race- he was a generous 7-1 and as I walked up to the window I was as confident as I ever was about the bet I was going to make- but as I got to the window inexplicably I went off my “system horse” and a 20-1 chance grabbed my attention and I handed over my stack of $$ to the clerk and announced my pick it was not the horse I had been certain to win for many days – nope I went off Barrera’s hoss and played that other one needless to say Lemhi Gold strutted thru the stretch laughing like he was nitrous oxide!! While the “plug” I had wagered upon at the last moment- was finished after 200 yards and chugged into about 75 lengths beyond Lemhi Gold- That was it for me- I did not bet one cent for the next 20 years! I continued my studies which culminated in the method I’ve been using during 2013-14 and revealed my selections to the internet public for whoever was kind enough to give my writings a read- During this most recent period I tried to select every thoroughbred race run in North America and publishing that activity on the “net” particularly here on facebook- I kept records of my “picks” and there have been some great ones but for the most part there were not enough winners to save my system from complete and devastating collapse- Yet how can I reject my lifelong “werke” Just yesterday it pinpointed Jolson at Finger Lakes ($5050) and Instant Flash there as well (12.20 in the opener- @ Parx in the 8th my ideas were correct with Aqunet ($25.40) and the coup de grace was my picks at Zia Park Six Fights in the 2nd ($12.50) & Speedy habits in the 4th ($20.00) and Irish Street in the 11th ($20.00) and in the 12th She’s Already Home ($49.00) resulting in a late double at Zia Park paying $351.80 for 2 measly bucks!! Do you think I made a Frakkin dime from such insights!!- I will arrive on Breeders Cup day’s man all shook up- Anyway here is how the “Cup” races look to me on Tuesday morning 102814- CLASSIC > Tonalist Mile > Grand Arch Sprint > Bourbon Courage Turf > Twilight Eclipse Juvenile > Calculator Turf Sprint > No Nay Never Fillies and Mares Sprint > Artemis Agrotera F&M Turf > Emollient Juvenile Fillies > Cristina’s Journey Distaff > Stanwyck / Valiant Emilia Juvenile fillies Turf > Lady Eli Dirt Mile > Fed Biz Juvenile Turf > Wet Sail That is where I’m at this moment I hope that the gentle reader is progressing in their own selection process- h
