Harvard Medical School has announced it will terminate the contract for 31 janitors this September due to a “changing business model.” As a school that benefits from public money because of its tax-exempt status, whose annual endowment income exceeds $160 million, and whose mission is “To create and nurture a diverse community of the best people committed to leadership in alleviating human suffering caused by disease,” it is misguided to trim the budget on the backs of these workers. Join us at 4pm this Wednesday at the Holyoke Center to show solidarity with these workers and that we, as a community, oppose these layoffs!
