Harvard Students See US Bigger Threat than ISIL Students at Harvard University have put America as a bigger threat to world peace than the so-called Islamic State (or ISIL) militant group, asserting the US actions in the Middle East are the main factors leading to the growth of such groups. “American imperialism and our protection of oil interests in the Middle East are destabilizing the region and allowing groups like ISIS to gain power,” said one student, using another acronym of ISIL, Harvard’s Campus Reform reported. The student’s response was to a question directed at various students at the hallowed Ivy League school on who is the bigger threat to world peace: US or ISIL. Various students said they believe that America, not ISIL, is the biggest threat to world peace. The students were interviewed by Campus Reform on Saturday, and the video was posted on Tuesday, October 7. Most of the answers said that ISIL would not exist had it not been for the past actions of the US, especially in the Middle East. “As a western civilization we’re to blame for a lot of the problems that we’re facing now,” one student said. “I dont think anyone would argue that we didnt create the problem of ISIS, ourselves.” “We are, at some level, the cause of it,” said another student.
