## Harvesting your gas and selling them back to you on global market regime# Benefits of ExxonMobil LNG project in PNG- sounds like similar arrangement with InterOil.. PNG Plans To Buy Back ExxonMobil Gas For Electricity Prime Minister hopes to resolve ongoing power generation problems PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea (The National, May 8, 2014) – The PNG government plans to utilise gas from the resource projects to provide electricity to the country. Prime Minister Peter O’Neill told Parliament yesterday that this was part of the measures taken by the Government to resolve the current power generation problems. We’ve reached an understanding with ExxonMobil rather than exporting all our gas to the export markets we’ve convinced them to sell back gas to PNG Power so we can use gas to generate power in the country, he said. We are thankful to ExxonMobil for their understanding, over the last few days there has been detailed discussions going on with technical experts. O’Neill said there were discussions with Oil Search Ltd and Barrick about expanding the field in power generation in Hides, Southern Highlands, as well as nearby provinces in the Highlands. He said the gas in Kutubu would also be utilised to generate power which Oil Search Ltd has taken the lead in doing that. O’Neill told the House that the Government has been advised that gas from Kutubu could produce up to 30 megawatts of power generation. He was responding to West New Britain Governor Sasindran Muthuvel’s questions on what measures the Government was taking to address the constant power outages throughout the country. Muthuvel said some provinces have the potential for geothermal resources as an alternative to produce large scale electricity.
