Has anybody seen the ludicrous proposal to tarmac over graves in Castlehead cemetery, for a car park? The proposal would see many of the fragile gravestones removed and randomly placed elsewhere in the graveyard! Most of the stones are over 200 years old and many are unique and historically significant. There are several people of historical interest buried here, among them, Robert Tannahill, the grandparents of Ronald Reagan, and many others who will likely be ancestors of some Buddies today. Not only this, the developers plan to completely gut out the building and squeeze 12 flats into it! The church has lain empty for 4 years now and is in need of careful and considerate development, where the architectural and historical character is not compromised, and the graves of the dead are respected.
