Has anyone been keeping up with the news regarding the Keystone Pipeline? How do you feel about it, and what do you think will ultimately be Obamas decision? For now, Mr. Obama appears likely to veto the project. The State Department, which must rule on the pipeline’s fate, since it would cross an international border, is awaiting a decision by a Nebraska court on the route of the pipeline before any decision is made, and Mr. Obama has said that he will not make a final decision until all formal reviews of the project have been completed. Asked about the project at a news conference last week, Mr. Obama said, “I’m going to let that process play out.” Then he added, “And I’m just going to gather up the facts.” But that could leave the door open for a possible approval of the pipeline next year. Early in 2015, with Republicans controlling both chambers, Congress is expected to send another Keystone bill to Mr. Obama’s desk. The Nebraska court is expected to weigh in on the pipeline route as soon as January. After reviewing and delaying the project since the beginning of his presidency in 2009, Mr. Obama may soon run out of reasons to avoid making a decision.
