Has anyone come across a hand reared budgie that doesnt want to wean ? I need to know what to do in my case ... here goes .... My little Bean was rescued from the bottom of the aviary pecked, bleeding and frozen like an ice block. He was just short of opening his eyes. It took hours of warming him up and trying to get him to eat off a teaspoon. Eventually he took a small amount of food. By the morning he had warmed and was ready to have more food. We are now 8 weeks up... he has grown into a pretty turquoise lacewing ... a bald patch on the back of his head where the worst of the pecking was .. and a leg that is not functioning as normal so he just hobbles along. He is happy but my big problem is that he does not want to wean, just hangs out for his hand feeding. I have added seeds to his formula and also sprinkled them around the cage. The ones in the formula he spits out and the ones on the ground are ignored. I do offer him grass that have seeded .. he nibbles on these (to play with I think) .. but not to eat... same with the bits of fruit and veg on offer. Any ideas on getting this wee fella weaned would be appreciated. (photo taken about 4 weeks ago).
