Has anyone else heard the news out there that the proposed 185 Foot Cell Tower, is going to be about 5 ft. away from the Fire Station ? From what I understand, the contract has been signed, but it will still have to go before the Board of Appeals. I believe everyone thought when they voted on this, that it would be way back on the property and not almost right up against the building hovering over the fire Station where the men work, and sleep. If this is true it is disturbing. I just read the zoning bylaws, and Towers like this are suppose to have a fall zone that is about three times there height if I am reading it correctly. This Tower would appear tp not only put the fire station in the way, but also the the Donut Shop, and busy route 14/58, Ferrys, and other businesss within the drop zone. Not to mention the aesthetically distracting sight of a Giant Cell Tower Hovering over what most consider Hansons Center. Can anyone confirm this? I realize we need a spot for a Cell Tower, but there certainly has to be a better spot then this ! and I dont mean a higher spot close by, maybe 5 feet the Town Hall. There has be a heavily wooded, spot that the Town owns somewhere out of the way, with plenty of space for a fall zone that does not create and eyesore, and a potential threat to the surrounding area.
