Has anyone ever wondered exactly what the Dow Jones(Industrial Average) is? You hear about it every single day on the news. You see it on your smartphone, you hear about it, read about it. But what is it. I personally have always thought it was the current state of our economy. WRONG In a nutshell this is what the Dow Jones means: The Dow is just a quick summary of the current value of shares of thirty of the largest companies. OR The “Dow” is simply an average of the value of one share in each of thirty of the largest companies in the United States. It does not include any of the thousands of other publicly traded companies.
