Has anyone figured out the drop in output from a pollen covered - TopicsExpress

Has anyone figured out the drop in output from a pollen covered panel versus a clean panel? To that end, what about companies/people that do regular cleaning on them? I havent really cleaned mine at all over the last year or so that I have had them, but I went up to the roof since one of the panels was not giving out any output. Seeing the pollen encrusted panels, I hosed them down, but alas it seems that I have a bad microinverter and it had nothing to do with all the pollen. Since there are so many factors to production I cant really determine if cleaning them had any impact. I did find this from a California Solar Electric website: Most of our customers do not clean their panels and are still happy with their output. However in an area where there is little rain, dust and pollen can create a film over the panels that does indeed reduce the amount of energy generated. If necessary, using a hose to spray off dust monthly can increase efficiency. Do not spray panels when they are very hot. You should not walk on or over panels to clean them or use any abrasive methods for cleaning. Im thinking a company that cleans gutters and roofs might be able to clean the panels, but I would want a company that is familiar enough with solar panels that they wont break anything.
