Has anyone had this unusual PSE&G interaction: Today a guy in a neon yellow vest, hard hat and driving an unmarked white pick-up, came to my door explaining that he was from PSEG and was here to talk to me about gas service replacement; he needed to see the gas set up in the basement to see if it was accessible. Really? No PSEG logo on your truck or your clothing, I pointed out? He acknowledge that it was weird, but he was a supervisor, and he showed me his badge, which I couldve examined more closely I guess but since there was no way he was coming in the door I guess I didnt bother. He said the replacement was due to age of my house and something about BPUs. When I said all these houses were built at the same time, why are you just coming to my house? he indicated that it was rather random. He was a supervisor and had a handwritten list of 8 or so houses that theyd been trying to get ahold of. No, I did NOT let him in, and I did NOT shush the dog. Oh--when I explained that I would want to confirm this program before I let anyone in the house, he handed me a piece of loose-leaf paper with the handwritten name and number of the Gas Service Replacement scheduler. Anyone have a similar experience. Im going to try to call PSE&G tomorrow to inquire. The man seemed nice enough but the whole thing was extremely sketchy!
