Has anyone heard of UV plexi having issues touching art? I have - TopicsExpress

Has anyone heard of UV plexi having issues touching art? I have several prints where I the art went directly on the UV plexi (no mats or spacers) and had those curved metal clips secure the print backing to the frame so the print does not budge. I was told that plexi does not have the same humidity issues as glass does so you could save money on mats. So, now where clips were on the back, thats where most of the pressure was, tiny white-ish reflective spots appeared on the plexi & the art. Like there was some sort of chemical reaction that now looks like hard-water stains. Nothing happened where no paint was at the edge, and nothing happened on white paper, or paper with linen-like texture. Just where paint was pressed firmly against the UV plexi. Thoughts?
