Has anyone seen a circular rainbow before? I had heard of them, - TopicsExpress

Has anyone seen a circular rainbow before? I had heard of them, but had never seen one until the flight here to Birmingham. When New York City faded into the background behind the planes wing, I decided to face the ocean I had feared flying over for so long. I am terrified of heights and I cannot swim. I love the water, and the water’s depth isn’t a source of fear. But when one cannot swim, its infinite beauty becomes a source of infinite terror – especially from so far above it, with no protection but a seat cushion and a flimsy inflatable vest. Fortunately, Arthur had covered it with clouds, so I couldnt see it. The hurricane was kind enough to spend himself and leave his gifts before the plane’s take-off. I noticed the planes shadow reflecting on one of Arthurs fluffy gifts. The planes nose and wings were encircled with a rainbow, as if the plane flew through it. I could not grab my camera quickly enough. Daylight chased us across the globe. It seemed like darkness should fall when light still shone. Arthur’s clouds kept dotting the deep blue surface, but left holes here and there. Places existed where the ocean and sky reflected one another, like soul mates in a deep blue mirror. It was indistinguishable where one began and the other ended, though they never touched. We only saw nautical twilight, but that was enough to induce sleep. Darkness never quite overtook us. I awoke to a deep peach-colored ribbon of sun that spanned the cerulean horizon. Arthur’s clouds softened the harsh light in places. I thought we would win this race, but the sun found a short cut to the other side. I yawned, deciding to look back to see how long the deep red ribbon ran. Then I noticed the second circular rainbow behind the wing….on one of Arthur’s clouds a fuzzy circle of color reflected against its undulating surface. Perhaps the twin circular rainbows were two positive omens. Who knows! Omens or not, they were a delight to see.
