Has anyone seen the newly found extended video interview with Bundy - with full context? A friend of mine had this to say on it. Why do you guys make me do this? Consider me the devils advocate or whatever, but what Cliven Bundy said about slavery is getting a lot of attention, and even though I dont like him, I do value intellectual honesty, so I have to correct some things people are saying for my sanity. 1. He does not support slavery. In fact, he explicitly condemns it. You dont need straw men to debate this dude, so just stop. 2. The actual statement was meant to be an open-ended comparison between the material consequences of unemployment and poverty in black communities, due to state sanctioned oppression, and slavery. Of course, he is a moron and rosied up the family lives of slavery, but he blamed the state and welfare for the current situation(dead-end poverty), not people of color. Regardless of his incorrect, and yes, racist, worldview, he has demonstrated that he harbors concern for people in the situations he describes, not ill will. 3. Given that he is, on a multitude of issues, seriously misinformed, rather than malicious, and that he is demonstrating concern for others, it behooves a criticism that isnt based on dishonest character assassination. Theres still plenty to assassinate without it. I think he is correct. Sadly, the video is over at Info Wars... so most of us wont watch it. But, even a blind squirrel (or Ron Paul) can be right twice a day.
