Has anyone watched Good Morning Vietnam in the last few days? Saturday night is movie night for us, and scrolling through iTunes every great Robin Williams movie is available in New & Noteworthy. Good Morning Vietnam is my ALL TIME favorite movie of his. Even as I laughed, and recited every word of every monologue (yeah, Ive watched this one a LOT) ... there was such a deep sadness underlying my joy. Within the first 10 minutes there are two jokes related to suicide ... ... eerily the first one occurs in the first epic monologue. Im sure if you google it youll find it quickly. It sets a very different tone to the movie. My heart breaks when I think of the immense pain he must have been in to feel the desperate need to leave this life. Were such a complicated species arent we? So many of us are hurting at levels so deep, many of us will never comprehend. So whats the answer? So often we see the rich & the famous head in a downward spiral once they achieve fame & fortune... ... and I do understand that in Robins case there were other factors at play ... ... but I ask you this ... ... if achieving a great goal in life & reaching a certain financial position in life doesnt make some people HAPPY ... ... whats the REAL SECRET to HAPPINESS? Id love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
