INCIDENT TYPE: Petit Larceny (From a motor vehicle) BRIEF NARRATIVE: On 12/28/2014, officers of the South Burlington Police Department responded to the area of Old Orchard Park for the report of two males checking car doors. Upon arrival officers searched the area and located one of the males matching the description given. The male, identified as Skylar Bessette, 23 y/o of Winooski, admitted to having gone through vehicles. Bessette advised that he and an unknown acquaintance had been checking car doors and going into vehicles that were unlocked and taking items of interest, specifically loose change. At this time we have had no reports of vehicles having been forcibly broken into in regards to this incident. Bessette was taken into custody and processed for two counts of Petit Larceny. He was lodged at Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility on $750 bail. He is to appear in court Monday. The South Burlington Police Department urges members of the community to be vigilant in locking the doors to their vehicles at all times when unoccupied. Anyone with information regarding this case or victims of larcenies from their motor vehicle in the area of Old Orchard Park between the night of 12/27/14 and the morning of 12/28/14 are asked to call SBPD at 802-846-4111
