Has your son or daughter started the HPV (Gardasil) vaccine 3 dose series and need to get their next dose? If so, we are having a special HPV vaccination clinic on May 30 at our Burlington Pediatrics West office at 3804 South Church St to help! This will be a nurse only appointment for HPV vaccination of children that have already started the series and who have already had a physical within the last year with one of our providers. This vaccine is recommended for boys and girls ages 9 to 26 years of age. The vaccination schedule should be: Dose 1: at a date you and your child’s doctor chooses Dose 2: 2 months after dose 1 Dose 3: 6 months after dose 1 Even if you have missed the date for your childs next dose, it is recommended that they still complete the series. Completing the series of 3 doses is the only way to get the full benefits of the vaccine, which can help protect against approximately 75% of cervical cancer cases caused by HPV Types 16 and 18 and about 90% of genital warts cases caused by HPV Types 6 and 11.
