Hashtags & Facebook Clarification: We are getting questions on how the Facebook hashtag search feature will work with other platforms. There is some confusion that hashtags published on connected platforms will automatically be published & searchable on Facebook. My understanding is this is FALSE. Yes, the hashtag can show up in the stream IF... 1. Facebook post privacy settings (public etc.) allow such 2. If the post is PUBLISHED on Facebook. How Facebook stated in their blog post/announcement "originating on another platform" is vague and confusing. Originating on another platform and publishing to Facebook does not = pulling in stream from another platform automatically without you publishing on Facebook. This to me would be a privacy nightmare if Facebook would be doing such a thing, not to mention the spam it would cause beyond what is already happening with hashtags in just a short time frame.
