Hassan and Hoogenboezem Dominate Timaru Jaden Hassan and Al Hoogenboezem dominated their respective classes at the second round of the New Zealand Superbike Championship at Timaru over the weekend. Hassan almost didnt start the first race on Saturday , after he had qualified on pole . Hassan suffered a migraine . However he did start and walked away with race. Today (Sunday) Hassan once again showed the way round , although was closer with James Smith who lead for a while . Sloan Frost got his racing mojo back on track and took to thirds today. The Superbike Class title chase has closed up. Reigning Champion Dennis Charlett(Suzuki) still leads with 153 points from Jaden(Suzuki) with 146 and James Smith(Honda) in third with 138. The next round is Hampton Downs in March. Alastair Hoogenboezems weekend couldnt have been better , after a difficult first round last weekend in Christchurch , the Christchurch flyer took pole and a lap record and three race wins from the weekend and grab the series lead from brother James who suffered a major crash in race one Sunday .He ripped the damaged fairing off and continued and finished in 13th spot. Alastair leads the series with 146.5 points from James 130.5 and fellow Christchurch rider Cameron Hudson with 113 points. The next round is in March at Hampton Downs.
