Hate our modern, cashless society. Were just not quite ready for this. Brian email 440pm: Need $10 cash Bank closed at 430. Crap...on tight schedule! OK Do I have the car? Yes Cool Simple run to the store for wine, $10 cash back on the debit card...no prob. Looking for car. Walk 2.5 city blocks. No where to be found. Me txt: Wheres the car? On phone with Ins Co. I can come get you in a few. Me: Hmmm. Me: Plan-Walk to ATM get cash, go to Saults, get wine. Walk home. Its good for me anyway. Me: ATM...crap. Doesnt dispense anything under $20. Relive painful memory of discussion with management over this when we went to this $20 only arrangement. Wave away billowing clouds of steam exploding from my ears. Wait, I can get $20 and get change from Saults! Brians card is a business card...set up not to dispense cash from an ATM. My card...$13 balance. Me: Grrrrr. Walk home. Get car. (Yeah, yeah, I feel good for the exercise.) No real time to go to store. Take a chance and drive to Express Mart for wine and cash back. Pick up wine bottle, take it to check out. Me: May I get $10 bucks cash back please? Them: No we dont do that. one checker shakes head to other, geez we should have an ATM. I relate the story how we installed an ATM at MacAdoodles in Como for THE SAME FREAKIN REASON!!!!! Me: Realizes a trip to the store is inevitable and the evening is screwed. Run to store.....for cheese. Geez. Get behind lots of people who are from out of town and are totally lost..... Run them off the road and make it to the store...for cheese. Check out: Swipe Brians card. Suddenly realize it may not give cash back for same reason as at ATM. Lo, but Approved!!! And with style!!!! Eureka! Jump and dance in the store. High 5s all around!!! Get stared at by countless people who think banker boy has probably, finally lost it. Laugh and snicker at them and go on. I hate, hate, hate our cashless society.
