Hatfield swimmers Nico Campbell (Jamaica), Elinah Phillip & Amarah Phillip (British Virgin Islands) have completed a highly successful debut at the CARIFTA Swimming Championships in Aruba returning home with a very impressive total of nine medals! Competing in the Boys 15-17 years category, Nico was in great form, winning himself five medals: silver in the 200 Freestyle (1:55.22), plus bronze in both the 100 Freestyle (53.11) and 1500 Freestyle (17:03.22). He was also part of Jamaicas gold winning quartet in the 4x200 Freestyle Relay and collected a third bronze as part of the 4x100 Medley Relay. In addition, Nico placed 4th in the 100 Butterfly, 8th in the 50 Butterfly and 10th in the 50 Freestyle. Elinah was in electric form, setting a bundle of lifetime bests and snaring a medal from all four of her individual swims. Her best result came in the Girls 13-14 years 50m Butterfly where she grabbed the gold medal in a very quick 28.71. She followed this up with silver in the 50 Freestyle (27.23) and added a brace of bronze medals with PBs in the 100 Freestyle (1:00.72) and 100 Butterfly (1:08.82). 15 year old Amarah had a tougher time in the Girls 15-17 years section but performed very well to place 11th in the 100 Butterfly, 12th in the 50 Butterfly, and 14th in both the 50 & 100m Freestyle events. Congratulations to all three swimmers on some fantastic performances at this high level age group meet in Aruba!
