Hats off to Kailash Satyarthi & Malala Yousafzai, the Nobel Peace - TopicsExpress

Hats off to Kailash Satyarthi & Malala Yousafzai, the Nobel Peace Prize Winners As an Indian I am proud that Sri Kailash Satyarthi, a Child Right activist has won Nobel Peace Prize award alongwith very widely known Malala Yousafzai of Pakistan. Kailash Satyarthi is a very silent worker who had shown great personal courage against the suppression of children and their rights. As a five year old when Kailash Satyarthi went to the school in Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh for the first day, he witnessed a child sitting outside the school, working with his cobbler father. He asked his teachers & head master as to why the child is working outside. The answer was, ‘he is poor’. The answer was not convincing. One day Satyarthi went to the cobbler and asked why is he not sending his son to the school? The cobbler replied,‘we are born to work’. Satyarthi could not understand why some are born to work and why some others are born to enjoy life. Then came his lifelong resolute effort to work for child rights. A very silent and dedicated worker got a worldwide recognition with a bit of luck. It is not that since Sri Kailash Satyarthi is bestowed with this outstanding recognition there is no greater social worker than him in India. There might be still better and greater silent servers and achievers, but whenever an Indian is awarded such recognition, India’s name spreads further to more and more people of the world which embellished country. I am so proud of that. And I am an great admirer of Malala Yousafzai since the day she was shot at from the close quarters by a Taliban militant because she defied their dictat of preventing girls from going to school. The courage is enormous, beyond words & belief. How could a Muslim girl from a very conservative society & atmosphere and dominated by the trigger- happy Taliban summon the guts ti defy them! Really she is exceptional and even though at the slender age of 17 deserves this world prize. Now a Hindu & a Muslim; an Indian and a Pakistani join in a common struggle for education and against extremism. Really exceptional.
