Hats off to all those involved in planning the arrival and the first motorcade of Pope Francis. It was smooth and well-organized. Now I see the wisdom of declaring today and the next few days as special public holidays. Can you imagine the Pope having a motorcade at the height of Metro Manila rush hour? Or with other flights coming in at the same time? It would have been chaos. And it would have taken the Pope six hours to get to Taft. It was the right call. He is the leader of 1.2 billion people- including 80 million Filipinos. AND, he is the Vicar of Christ. He deserves this wonderful welcome. God bless the Pope! And God bless the Philippines!
