A famous haunting of Niagara The story of the Screaming Tunnel starts with a family living in a town once located on the opposite side of this unique and historic pathway. Caught between fighting parents, the little girl’s mother swore she would take the innocent daughter away from her abusive father. This would blow up one night when the wife tried to leave him. He would attack her, leave her unconscious and then turn on the little daughter who ran out into the night. She would go into the tunnel to hide, the father coming in soon after with tools in hand and a dark reason running through his mind. He would find her crouching in the darkness, and would spill the cold liquid on her, taking out one single, wooden match and striking it against those stones; he would end her life with a flick of that match. The little daughter is said to still be in the tunnel, which is now named for the disturbing experiences connected to her ghost. They say if you enter the dark tunnel at night, walk to middle and strike a wooden match against those stones… the little girl will let out a deafening scream with a gust of wind blowing through the tunnel to distinguish the match."
