Haunted by an article in Gulf Newss Friday. The Delhi Bravehearts - TopicsExpress

Haunted by an article in Gulf Newss Friday. The Delhi Bravehearts mother speaks of her ordeal. First - a picture of a woman, mid forties. Forlorn. Resigned. Asha Devi. Her head resting against her husbands shoulder for a photo-shoot possibly commissioned by the magazine. So much raw pain in her eyes that I had to sit down to be able to read. Enough has been said about the brutality and horror of that attack that shocked the nation and the world… the insensitivity of some of the people in the infrastructure, in the system that delivers law and order, justice etc. There are enough experts to speak on all those issues, certainly enough on social media and thank God for them. …but heres something Asha Devi says that is achingly simple and something every mother who is fortunate enough to share a loving relationship with her child can relate to. Speaking of the days following her daughter Jyoti Singhs death and the verdict sentencing the rapists and killer, she says There hasnt been a single moment when I have not missed her. We shared a wonderful mother-daughter relationship. Jyoti was a loving and caring daughter who never brought troubles to our door. She dreamed of making a better life for herself and her family, she was kind and thoughtful, a loving and responsible older sister, always lending a hand to help me with housework, cooking, clearing up after dinner, doing the dishes etc even if she had lots of college work to catch up on. We used to giggle and laugh over TV shows, soaps, movies..we were friends and now.. there is just emptiness where she used used to be. #Nirbhaya #heartbreak #mother
