Have a weird question, hoping someone can answer for me. First a back story: I have a 2000 528i with a set of M5 wheels. I am not convinced that they are authentic and may be knock offs. Having said that, I have developed a severe vibration at anything over 30MPH. Slower than that, the entire car wiggles. I was told by Tires Plus the last time I put tires on them that I had 2 bent rims, but back then, I never had this vibration. Its gotten worse the last 2 weeks. Now, 2 weeks ago, I noticed a bad steering wheel wiggle and found that I had bad inner tie rods. Go them replaced and the steering wheel stopped wiggling but the aforementioned vibration got worse. My dad (50 years of being a mechanic for Dodge/Chrysler/Mitsubishi/Ford/Volvo/Mercedes) thinks that this is probably tire related. I plan on taking it to Tires Plus tomorrow to check the balance and see if I have a damaged tire. Looking at them myself, I see nothing wrong with any of them (nothing glaring like threads or belts showing or separation). If tires turn out to be OK as well as the balance of the wheel, and the vibration still exists, what else can it be? Should also note that ever since I bought the car, it had a vibration going through 50-60 MPH, if I let off the gas then got back on it, the vibration would go away. Never really let it bother me, the original owner told me about it when I purchased it from him 5 years ago. On the 3rd set if tires since I purchased the car in 2009 so I dont think THAT was tire related. Now my questions: I do have some factory 15 rims that I planned on using when the tires on the M5 rims were worn out. Once the M5 rims are off the car, I planned on removing the tires and having them refinished as they look awful. If 2 of them are bent, can they be straightened or are they trash? Thanks in advance for any and all advice and suggestions. Tony Mongiello
