Have a wonderful and flavorful day today. I was rummaging through - TopicsExpress

Have a wonderful and flavorful day today. I was rummaging through the fridge last night looking for a tasty treat. For some reason I found myself craving ice cream. I settled on the cookie dough as I only had two choices. I remembered the days when I would walk in to a Baskin Robbin ice cream and feast my eyes on 32 different flavors. At 65 and 260 pounds, you can imagine I had a hard time eliminating any of the succulent flavors in front of me. All offered their own unique flavor and sweetness. Vanilla for the just the basics crowd. Neapolitan for the undecided crowd. Rocky Road for the adventurous crowd. Strawberry Banana for the healthy thinking crowd, and on it went. I would imagine that depending on the age of the crowd, the time of year, the temperature outside, and a host of other circumstances, the favorite flavor would forever be changing. As a child my mind often thought outside the box. Did a full container of ice cream mean the customers liked it very much and it was newly replaced, or was it fuller than the rest because only a few liked its flavor? Perhaps that scenario is drawn out in real life. Sometimes we feel like the flavor of the month ,and it seems almost everyone wants a taste of us. At other times we may feel like we are the last flavor picked out of the case , and yet at other times we find ourselves somewhere in the middle. My best friend growing up used to relate to me how sad he always felt when we picked athletic teams in gym class. He spoke often about how it made him anxious knowing he would be one of the last children chosen. My thought today is this. Much like the ice cream flavors and my childhood friend, God in his infinite wisdom has created a great number of palates that crave our flavor. We may not be the sweetest, the most esthetically pleasing, and we may not be a Hollywood type flavor but there are people who he has put in this world that would relish us above any other flavor. My sincere hope today is that we realize we are needed, wanted, and most of all loved. Think for a moment, all the people that have loved and embraced us even when we werent the most popular flavor. This hump day, we can appreciate our lovable and unique selves knowing we dont have to be number one to everyone, just the people that think we are. No matter what flavor we are today, someone is going to pick us. Lovem All.
