Have been able to watch a few rounds of the French Open this week. Thoughts began to surface on how the game seems different these days. There seems to rarely be an upset anymore, especially in the four Grand Slam events. Yeah, a 2 or 3 seed may win over a 1 seed, but thats only technically an upset. There are no more unstable unpredictable players like McEnroe, maybe Andy Roddick. No players are disqualified anymore for threatening a Chair Umpire. There are no more bloody knees or elbows like Boris Becker seemed to have at the conclusion of many-a-match. Only a torn ACL occasionally, or cramps, which really doesnt provide the emotional reaction when compared to blood being shed on the red clay court of Roland Garros. These days, Federer is classy and stylish in play. Nadal is a brute who exerts his will over the opponent, and should really work on not picking his butt between services. Djokovic is the funny guy. The overall talent and skill, however, has never been better.
