Have bike, will travel. One of my bike parking projects - TopicsExpress

Have bike, will travel. One of my bike parking projects delivered a pilot project aboard one BC Ferry to accommodate traveling cyclists. Follow through with my subsequent fleet analysis never left the port, though the concept did inform design of the Coastal series of vessels that all have bike racks on board. Bikes need multiple parking spaces - at home, at work, at other destinations and, sometimes, along the way. The demand for bike parking is multiples of the number of bikes in service, just as it is with motor vehicles. Every car demands somewhere from 3 to 6 spots in urban settings for parking, eating up enormous amounts of land and space that can often be converted to more productive and profitable uses. Relaxing vehicle parking standards at multi-unit residential developments, to address a current issue, will necessitate the provision of alternate options, especially bike parking, not only to meet current demand, but to anticipate future growth in demand as cycling for transportation grows by circumstance or design. https://flickr/photos/luton/16217594535/
