Have not written lately so thought i would but not much to say so i thought i would wrote a poem just for you guys. Actually it was inspired by some cartoons i was reading shortly after i got up. The book was an old volume from the basement of daily cartoons for the Detroit Free Press, the Freep as it is known locally, using the Detroit area as a source of humor, city jokes. It started me thinking about the old days and soft bread and then the sandwiches... of olde. Remember When bread was soft Filled with a single slice of Baloney? The baloney sandwich With a layer of ketchup A dill pickle On the side? On the counter desert Purged from the cookie jar The lid replaced silently For another? Was that lunch On hot summer days With a cold glass of milk Perhaps?
