Have the right foods in the house. Just now, after all these years of preaching it, I personally experienced the deep value of the message. I was hungry, and didnt know what I really wanted. You know that feeling right?! The search and destroy mission was underway and the snack attack was tough to hold back. Middle of the road choices were being made as I sought the one that would satisfy. They werent cutting it. They never do... Then I started to zero in on that one. The bigger snack that would feed the need. That lower than middle of the road selection that works for now, but makes things harder later. Nothing else was jumping out. Smart choice #1. I paused. And an UPgraded choice came to mind. My last chance before the ship of eating well sailed. And if it wasnt in the house, bon voyage. But it was. Smart choice #2. As a result, I got protein, veggies spices and healthy oils as a reward for its presence. (The fact there were other choices is another problem of its own, and I wouldnt be in the dilemma. But I wouldnt have had the learning moment either:) Tuna, which I eat less frequently, olive and mct oil, a touch of mayo, organic garlic, onion, and adobo spices, red pepper flakes, organic heirloom tomatoes, avocado, jalapeño pieces, a dash of sea salt, black pepper and a bit of fresh parmesan cheese. In a bowl. No bread. 5 minutes to prep. Delicious. Nutritious. Satisfying. The power of a list and having the right foods at hand was clear and present.
