Have to be to work for a meeting this morning, so Im sucking down the caffeine like crazy. Took my daughter to the Magic Breaks signing at Murder by the Book last night. It was raining; traffic was utter and complete crap, getting worse and worse the further we got into the loop (Houston traffic is always bad). It was all worth it. We didnt attend the meet and greet since my kid and I had plans to go to dinner with Ilona and Gordon after the signing (went to Goode Co. Seafood), but we grabbed good seats for the talk and signing. As always, these two were funny, engaging and very happy to share info. about their writing process, the quirks of their fictional characters and the mythology of the KD worlds. Toss in a few tidbits about kids, pets and the typical workday for this power-house writing team, and it made for a great signing event. Dinner afterwards was lovely. It was just the four of us, and my daughter kept her cool until we were in the car afterwards. Much squeeing then ensued. :) Sooooo worth the traffic headaches. Speaking of traffic: Hwy 59 for 14 miles was bumper to bumper at 10:45 p.m.. :(
